Epilude Notetaker

Hey Product Hunt! I’m Gustav, one of the makers of Epilude. Epilude started as a way to write with my voice after I hurt my elbow. Today, we’re launching Notetaker. It's the next step in helping you spend less time typing and more time thinking. I’ve always found meetings slightly self-defeating: either I focus on the conversation and forget half of what was agreed, or I take detailed notes and miss the conversation happening in front of me. Existing AI notetakers solve that problem, but they all send your data to cloud providers such as Anthropic and OpenAI, where you risk your data becoming part of their training data. We wanted something more private. Notetaker transcribes and summarises your meetings all locally on your Mac using our in-house trained model EP-1. That way, none of your data leaves your Mac, and your notes remain yours. When the meeting ends, Epilude gives you a clean transcript, an editable summary, and action items with owners and due dates. It automatically adapts the notes to the kind of meeting you had, so a standup, sales call, and planning session don’t all come back in the same generic format. Every key point links back to the transcript, making it easy to check exactly what was said. Each meeting is also saved as a Markdown file in a folder on your Mac, so you can open it in Obsidian, paste it into Notion, export it as a PDF, or keep it wherever you already work. Epilude Notetaker records directly from your Mac, so no bot joins the call and there’s nothing to invite or connect. If your Mac can hear the meeting, Epilude can take the notes, whether you’re using Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Slack, or talking across a table. My favourite part is simply being more present. I can stop half-listening while trying to write everything down and trust that the decisions and follow-ups will still be there when the call ends. Epilude is Mac-only for now. <p>I love the idea, and it's really cool that you have a lifetime/pay-once option with no cloud dependency. It feels like the good old days — app purchases are back, which is possible again thanks to local AI models.</p><p></p><p>I have one question and one concern.</p><p></p><p>Question: Can I hook my Claude Code up to the meeting transcripts to do more powerful meeting summarization? How would it work in practice? Is it a folder where Epilode stores the transcripts, or does it work some other way?</p><p></p><p>Concern: The Pay Once option only includes one year (!) of app and model updates... does that mean I'll have to buy the app again every year? I mean, what if it stops working when the next macOS drops?</p>
